Rest Home
Moving into residential care can be a positive decision for everyone concerned. Our Rest Home supports older people who cannot manage at home. Enabling you to maintain your independence and privacy in home-like surroundings is our goal.
Whanau room
We have a Whanau Room where families can make themselves at home when they visit. It's also available for private birthday parties and other family functions.
Hospital care
Our highly trained staff deliver hospital services in a warm, caring environment for people with complex needs. Ngahuru Home works with local GPs to ensure our clients' medical needs are met. Residents may choose to retain a relationship with their own GP if this is practical.
Day Activity Programme
Our Day Activity Programme is open to all Hawera residents, Monday to Friday 9am to 3.00pm. Visitors can enjoy a two course meal and stimulating outings with others as well as personalised care. Attendance may be covered by funding from the Taranaki District Health Board.
Respite care
If you are caring for an older person, occasionally you need time out to refresh. Ngahuru provides a place for the person you care for while you get the rest you need. It's a flexible service to suit you.
Respite care may be funded by your local District Health Board or you can arrange it directly with us and pay for it privately.
Convalescence
We can look after older people as they recover from surgery or illness. Our registered nurses and trained support staff provide meals and help with personal care for as long as it's required. This can be in our Home or yours.
Community Support
Older people can maintain their independence in their own home with the support of our community support staff. We can help with things like housework, personal care, bathing and dressing.
Our Meals on Wheels service delivers healthy and tasty meals to private homes. We also provide a pick-up and delivery linen service.
Serviced rental accommodation
We offer affordable rental accommodation in a warm, friendly environment. Residents have their dinner cooked for them and we do the housework. We can also provide an emergency call bell if required.
